"Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?" 1 Corinthians 1: 12-13 |

Sacrifice crucifixA muscular, monumental carving of the humiliated yet glorified Savior. The wooden crucifix focuses on the figure of Jesus Christ in the final moments of his life, as he cries, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" (Matthew 27:46). His willing sacrifice for humankind is expressed through his gentle tightening of the hands and his earthward gaze. The crown of thorns enhances the naturalism of the composition. Additionally, his face is rendered in the throes of an arduous death, emphasising the extent of Christ's sacrifice for the salvation of mankind. |

Crown of thorns crucifixThis elegant carving is representative of the finest objects for personal devotion. The powerful anatomical structure - with its natural portrayal of the dying Christ's corporeality - is remarkable. A subtle twist in the torso was produced in part by the positioning of the legs, which are crossed and mounted on the cross with a single tail. The crown of thorns is fashioned from real thorns. The face of the exquisite carving is worked with intricate detail – a tour de force of the carver’s art. As one of the most popular crucifixes in our collection, it comes in three different sizes, ranging from 17,5 inches to 26 inches. |

Traditional crucifixAs per popular request, the "Traditional crucifix" is a smaller version of the large "Chapel crucifix". It expresses a combined sense of drama and elegance through the accomplished carving of the wood. Unlike the large version, it emphasizes Christ's agony, pain and suffering. The symmetrical body and stylized carving of the rib cage convey a sense of calm detachment in the transcendent moment, when he sublimated his physical pain and commended his spirit to God. His face and his torso are articulated with fine interior and exterior lines of his body and the mannered flow of his loincloth echoes the restless movement of the river's current. |

"An excuse is worse and more terrible than a lie, for an excuse is a lie guarded."
John Paul II
"The question confronting the Church today is not any longer whether the man in the street can grasp a religious message, but how to employ the media so as to let him have the full impact of the Gospel message." John Paul II |

Papal crucifixThe well-developed body with lithe, long limbs expresses Jesus' inherent beauty. The torso with the full weight of his body pulling downwards suggests that the breath of life has already passed from him. Jesus' humanity, and hence his mortality, is emphasized and balanced with his nobility as savior and king. The dramatic dignity of the corpus is juxtaposed with the rough cross, carved by hand from linden wood and rendered in details such as the rope holding the crossarm. Special feature: shoulder wound.

Large wedding crucifixIn this work, Christ's facial features have been reduced to stylized abbreviations that are less detailed in their descriptiveness. His hands and feet are flattened and the feet are joined into a single five-toed limb. The wrap and ribs are rendered as simplified to geometric linear abstractions. The linear accent of the rills at once lightens the density of the wood and highlights the subtlety of the carving's design elements. |
